Hamilton Locke has made several promotions across our teams with effect from 1 July
Promoted to the partnership in our Workplace and Employment team are Melissa Doran and Timothy Zahara.
Melissa joined our firm in 2023 as a Special Counsel, moving across with Michael Tooma and team from Clyde & Co. She is a specialist workplace health and safety (WHS) lawyer, with over 13 years’ experience in both advisory and litigious WHS matters. Melissa advises businesses on proactively setting up safe systems of work and in navigating WHS incident responses, as well as acting for both individuals and companies in defending WHS prosecutions: “Being promoted to partner is an exciting new chapter. Hamilton Locke’s people-first culture and agile way of thinking are key values that align with my values as a practitioner, and it’s a firm of which I’m proud to be part.”
Timothy first joined Hamilton Locke in 2020, returning in 2022 as a Special Counsel after gaining experience as a senior lawyer at the workplace regulator, the Fair Work Ombudsman. He advises clients across a wide range of industries, from boards of ASX 100 companies to family businesses, on the full range of employment matters. He specialises in high-level, complex investigations and claims, including whistleblowing claims, senior executive employment disputes, and post-employment restraints. He also provides strategic industrial advice and transfer of employment obligations in public and private corporate transactions: “It’s a privilege to be promoted to partner at a firm that genuinely walks the talk on law being practised in a way that is sustainable and humane, which creates an environment in which our people can truly excel. I wouldn’t want to be a partner at any other firm.”
Nick Humphrey, Managing Partner of Hamilton Locke, said: “Melissa and Timothy both represent the essence of our culture: smart, dedicated practitioners, who care about their teams and are committed to providing our clients with an exceptional experience. We congratulate them on this career milestone.”
Nick added: “We’re also very proud of our new Special Counsel and Senior Associates, whose promotions reflect their talent, commitment to our culture, and broader contributions to our firm.”
