Calyb is an experienced finance lawyer, with a particular focus on the alternative lending market in Australia. Calyb advises numerous onshore and offshore credit funds, asset managers and other non-bank lenders, with a particular focus on asset backed, distressed and real estate finance transactions.

Calyb approaches his work with an inquisitive nature and his curiosity allows him to evolve with the law, continually striving to learn and improve.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Calyb worked for Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney and ENS in Johannesburg.

  • Acted for MA Financial Group through its marina portfolio holding company in relation to the senior debt facilities raised from an Australian major bank to fund the acquisition of 13 marinas across Australia.
  • Acted for Redcape Hotel Group which owns and operates pubs and hotels worth ~A$1.35 billion in relation to their senior debt facilities with various Australian major banks.
  • Acted as counsel to Alceon Group in relation to the senior secured facilities provided to Pathways Residences (an aged care facility owner and operator in Australia).
  • Acted for Longreach Credit Investors and Australian Philanthropic Services Foundation in relation to the senior secured facilities provided to Pacific Green and which was used to support the development of a 7GWh battery project pipeline across the Australian National Electricity Market.
  • Acted for Bluestone Group in relation to the senior secured Holdco facility raised from an Australian major bank.
