Hamilton Locke Advises Sparc Hydrogen on capital raise to advance Solar-to-Hydrogen Technology

Hamilton Locke is pleased to have advised Sparc Hydrogen on its recent A$1.3 million capital raise from its existing shareholders Sparc Technologies, Fortescue and Adelaide University to support the next phase of development of its innovative solar-to-hydrogen technology. The investment will support the continued advancement of Sparc Hydrogen’s water splitting technology, which aims to produce green hydrogen directly from sunlight and water without the use of a conventional electrolyser.

A key focus of this next stage is to advance the company’s evaluation of a range of high-efficiency water splitting materials and modules, including through collaboration with leading international technology developers. Sparc Hydrogen has demonstrated promising results through the integration of high-efficiency water-splitting modules with its reactor platform, and the funding will support further optimisation and planned testing at the company’s SHARP pilot facility in South Australia.

Commenting on the transaction, Partner Leigh Holder said: “We’re proud to support great Australian technology stories. Sparc Hydrogen is developing a genuinely innovative approach to green hydrogen production, and its international collaborations highlight the opportunities that emerge when Australian innovation is combined with leading international partners. This capital raise will support the next phase of development and testing, and we are delighted to have supported the team on this important milestone.”

The Hamilton Locke team was led by Partner Leigh Holder with support from Special Counsel Marni Riley and Lawyer Connor Raine.
