Andrew is known for his straightforward problem-solving approach to his work. As a finance lawyer, he is easily able to communicate complex ideas in a clear manner to his clients and colleagues. His enthusiastic and commercial approach to his work is highly valued by clients and enables him to work optimally in highly pressured situations.

Andrew is a banking and finance law specialist with extensive experience working on matters relating to project and infrastructure finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, real property finance, corporate finance and restructuring and insolvency. He has had a deep involvement advising on major projects, acquisitions and workouts across both Australia and the UK.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Andrew worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia and King & Wood Mallesons in Australia, and Allen & Overy, LLP in the United Kingdom.

Project finance

  • Advising the purchaser of a solar farm in West Australia, including in respect of its proposed H2 development plans.
  • Advising the financier to a green Bitcoin production facility in Tasmania.
  • Advising a consortium of major infrastructure investors on its bid to acquire Tilt Renewables (owner and developer of a number of solar and wind assets in Australia and New Zealand).
  • Advising the financiers to a two-stage 300MW solar farm in South Australia which, at the time of financial close, was the largest in Australia.

 

Leveraged and acquisition finance

  • Advising Waterco on its $60m acquisition of the Davey Business from GHD Holdings.
  • Advising the financiers to BGH Capital in its acquisition of Navitas Limited in a public to private transaction.
  • Advising the financiers to Pacific Equity Partners in its acquisition of Citadel Group.

 

Corporate finance and real estate finance

  • Advising a debt fund on its working capital loan, with connected warrants, to a manufacturer borrower.
  • Advising a retail lender on its loan documentation, including advising on UCT issues.
  • Multiple build-to-sell and build-to-rent property development financing transactions.

 

Restructuring and insolvency

  • Advising on the administration of a solar project in Queensland, including the implementation of a successful deed of company arrangement.
  • Advising a resources company based in WA on its successful scheme of arrangement in respect of its English law governed facilities.
  • Advising the financers to Speedcast in respect of its Ch. 11 proceedings in the US, with parallel proceedings in Australia, including putting in place DIP financing for initial period of Ch. 11 proceedings.
