Isabel Harrison

Isabel is a lawyer in the Workplace & Safety team with extensive experience in workplace matters, including work health and safety litigation, advisory and compliance work, and regulatory investigations. She has worked with a broad range of clients across numerous jurisdictions. Her clients include companies in the logistics, mining, manufacturing, construction, education, transport, and commercial property industries. Isabel is passionate about delivering practical and commercially focused advice to her clients and finding innovative solutions to legal challenges.

Isabel has worked with clients to design and deliver customised work health and safety management systems that address key risks in their portfolio, from psychosocial hazards to contractor and asset management. She also has extensive experience in work health and safety litigation, having acted for clients in courts in New South Wales and Western Australia.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Isabel worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Sydney Law School and gained practical experience at Redfern Legal Centre and the Refugee Advice & Casework Service.

  • Successfully defending a multinational manufacturing company against charges under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), resulting in the withdrawal of charges by the Prosecutor.
  • Preparing a tailored WHS management system for a major investment firm and delivering relevant training to employees.
  • Conducting workplace investigations for a tertiary education provider into allegations of bullying, fraud, and potential criminal conduct.
  • Acting on behalf of a major logistics company in relation to a prosecution under the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA).
  • Reviewing and advising on employment contracts, enterprise agreements, and industrial awards for a national manufacturing company.
  • Preparing executive-level training on officer due diligence for national and multinational companies in the education, construction, telecommunications, and logistics sectors.
