Hamilton Locke advises Australian Soil Management on its acquisition partnership with Climate Friendly

We are pleased to have advised Australian Soil Management (ASM), a leading soil carbon company, on its acquisition partnership with prominent carbon project service provider Climate Friendly.

This transaction signifies an evolutionary step forward for the industry, in anticipation of the integrated farm and land management method (IFLM) currently under development by Parliament as an approved Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) methodology, scheduled for introduction later this year.

In navigating the complexities of ACCU regime and related market dynamics, the Hamilton Locke team demonstrated its expertise in Carbon Capital transactions through a creative M&A strategy. The integration of ASM and Climate Friendly’s respective expertise and project pipelines should assist market participants to best capitalise on current ACCU methodology development.

Commenting on the transaction, Hamilton Locke Partner James Delesclefs said:

“This acquisition represents an interesting development in the carbon sequestration ecosystem. We are extremely proud to have advised ASM on this transformative deal and wish the ASM and Climate Friendly group every success in assisting market participants with new and existing projects.”

The team at Hamilton Locke was led by Partners James Delesclefs and Erik Setio, assisted by consultant Anya Gleichmann and lawyer Jason Dong, working with Oxley Capital Partners as lead M&A advisor throughout the process.

Oxley Capital’s Managing Director Ben Craw said “Our team is proud to have advised Australian Soil Management on its partnership with Climate Friendly.  This transaction highlights ASM’s leadership in soil carbon and brings in capital to support its next phase of growth.  We congratulate both teams and look forward to seeing their combined impact on the carbon market”.

Congratulations to Norman Charles, Greg Bender, and the entire team at ASM, as well as Climate Friendly, as they embark on this exciting new venture together. We look forward to witnessing their partnership as they continue to drive innovation in soil management and carbon sequestration initiatives.
