It’s been a year of growth for Hamilton Locke’s construction team, with dynamic new work across the construction sector, an expanding team, and a spot on Legal 500’s firms to watch. We look back on some of the highlights, as well as what lies ahead for 2025.
Team news
This year has seen substantial growth across the Hamilton Locke construction team. We’ve been delighted to welcome:

- Clara Hagan was promoted to Special Counsel in Perth, Tariq Alardah was promoted to Senior Associate in Sydney, and after three years as a law clerk in the team, Rahul Tijoriwala commenced as a graduate at the firm.

Industry presence
For the second year in a row, the Hamilton Locke construction team was identified as a ‘firm to watch’ in Legal500.
Partners Veno Panicker and Elena Stojcevski presented at the Society of Construction Law’s National Conference in Melbourne on causes of major project contractor insolvency.
Veno presented to Engineers Australia at their annual Risk Conference on the skills shortage ‘Skills to pay the bills.’
We also presented various workshops including Contract Management, Managing EPC Risks, Managing Delay and Disruption, Managing Subcontractor Insolvency, Termination Tips and Traps, and Security of Payment across various states.
Looking ahead
The Hamilton Locke construction team has had continued support from its key clients over the year and anticipates continued growth in 2025.
The construction team has a particular depth of experience in EPC contract disputes (litigation and arbitration) – with a focus in the renewables sector. Increasingly, given the prevailing market, insolvency work has also become a strong part of the practice.
