Verity specialises in intellectual property, technology and privacy law, bringing a wealth of experience advising clients ranging from small to medium enterprises to large multinational companies. Her sector experience spans aviation, agriculture, education, retail, technology and entertainment. She has extensive experience assisting clients with technology procurement, licensing of intellectual property, commercialisation and trade mark prosecution.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Verity worked for HopgoodGanim Lawyers and a specialist intellectual property and technology firm.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS
  • Acted as outsourced general counsel for a large, international Brisbane-based software company, which included general customer contract negotiation for its Software-as-a-Service platform (including a high value contract with a large international quick service restaurant provider), preparation of RFP and tender responses, assisting with negotiation of promotional partnerships, international domain name disputes, trade mark prosecution, protection and enforcement of trade marks in both domestic and international jurisdictions, development of privacy documentation and policy creation and advising in relation to Australian Consumer Law issues.
  • Advised a wave-generation technology start-up in the negotiation of licensing of high value proprietary intellectual property to numerous international licensees for the purpose of developing recreational surf-wave parks.
  • Advised a large domestic surf, skate and street fashion retailer in relation to trade mark protection and enforcement, IT procurement contracts, terms of trade, social influencer and agency model agreements and assisting in the review and amendment of agreements involved in the roll-out of a large digital programmatic marketing campaign.
  • Acted for an Australian encryption software provider in the negotiation of source and binary licence agreements with a variety of large customers including cyber security providers, banks and computer hardware manufacturers.
  • Secondment to an Australian airline to assist with the negotiation of complex technology procurement contracts, provide trade mark advice and review and advise on marketing campaigns and collateral.
  • Assisted an Australian public university in the negotiation of various commercialisation agreements for the exploitation and development of agricultural technology and providing advice with respect to various relevant funding agreements.
