Gonzalo brings a blend of strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail to his work in corporate M&A. Known for his pragmatic approach, Gonzalo focuses on delivering optimal outcomes for his clients, navigating complexities with ease. Gonzalo’s expertise spans mergers & acquisitions, Private Equity, Venture capital, and general corporate law.

Gonzalo has worked extensively in Europe advising on both national and cross-border transactions across a wide range of industries and sectors, with a particular focus on Private Equity, Venture capital and start-up advice. He has also worked on transactions in the US and the Middle East, advising clients on a wide range of venture capital investments.

Since 2023, Gonzalo has been working in Sydney advising Australian and overseas clients on corporate and M&A related matters.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Gonzalo worked in the Corporate and M&A practice of EY Law in Sydney. He also worked for over five years in the Madrid office of Deloitte Legal as part of the corporate and M&A group. Previously, he worked for a renowned Spanish law firm and in the Madrid offices of top-tier UK and a US law firms.

Gonzalo is admitted in Spain and not admitted in Australia.

EXPERIENCE
  • Acted for the UK-based equipment rental company Charles Wilson Engineers (CW Plant) on its acquisition of Australian Boom & Scissor Lift (ABS).
  • Acted for an investor on its acquisition of a minority stake in an Australian startup which provides hi-tech, robust, wheeled vehicle solutions, specialising in the global mining industry.
  • Acted for Repsol Energy Ventures (100% subsidiary of the leading Spanish energy group Repsol) on multiple portfolio investments into fast growing climate tech businesses, including on its investment in, and strategic collaboration with, the Israeli startup RepAir, which develops a Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology with an electrochemical method.
  • Acted for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automotive interiors and spare parts on the sale of one of its US-based subsidiaries to a US operator.
  • Acted for Banco Santander (worldwide leading financial services institution based in Spain) on its acquisition of 100% of Diners Club Spain, a worldwide operator of corporate travel payment cards, from Airplus Lufthansa (a subsidiary of the German Lufthansa group).
  • Advising Atresmedia (Spanish leading media and advertising company) on multiple portfolio investments into fast growing technology businesses, including on its acquisition of a minority stake in Ac2ality, the world leading TikTok news platform in Spanish language, and its acquisition of a minority stake in a US-based leading entertainment platform.
  • Acted for Silicius Real Estate SOCIMI (a Spain-based entity focused on the acquisition and leasing of real estate properties) on its IPO for the negotiation of its shares in the alternative stock exchange in Spain (BME Growth).
  • Acted for the Chinese group Yeeper (leading group in the manufacturing and commercialisation of milk and milk derivatives) on its acquisition of 100% stake in the Spanish entity Euroserum Ibérica, from French group Sodiaal International.
  • Advised on several Private Equity and Venture capital investments.
