Julie has a knack for being able to explain even the most complex legal ideas in a way that’s clear, concise, and ever so friendly. Her disarming manner has been known to keep everyone around her calm, even in the most stressful situations.
Julie advises clients on niche areas such as discretionary mutuals and aggregate deductible schemes and assists underwriting and broking businesses in navigating the pitfalls of the AFS licensing process. She advises a broad range of financial services industry participants including insurance brokers, general insurers, underwriting agencies and insurtechs and negotiates commercial agreements. She also regularly provides regulatory advice on policy wordings and disclosure documents and provides practical guidance to clients on product design and development and insurance distribution structures.
Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Julie worked at The Fold Legal, which merged with Hamilton Locke on 1 September 2022. Julie has also worked at a commercial firm where she specialised in advising self-managed superfunds (SMSFs). She was highly regarded in this area and wrote a regular column in the Australian Financial Review on issues affecting SMSFs.
