Hamilton Locke supports St John’s Crisis Centre on the acquisition of a refuge for women and children

We recently supported St John’s Crisis Centre with their acquisition of a residential apartment block, which will be transformed into a much-needed refuge for women and children impacted by domestic violence. This incredible initiative was made possible by the generous donation of the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation.

At Hamilton Locke, we are deeply committed to contributing to the wellbeing of our communities. Working alongside organisations like St John’s Crisis Centre to bring impactful projects like this to life is truly rewarding. This acquisition is an essential step toward providing safer spaces for vulnerable individuals who need it most.

Reflecting on the project, Partner Sarah Roettgers commented: “It was an honour to work with St John’s Crisis Centre on this heartfelt initiative. Providing legal guidance to support such an important cause has been a privilege, and we couldn’t be prouder to play even a small part in helping the Centre deliver this vital service to the community.”

The Hamilton Locke team included Sarah Roettgers, Catherine Nufer, Matthew Butchard, and Debra Lucas, who worked collaboratively to provide pro bono legal services, ensuring the successful completion of the transaction.

We extend our gratitude to St John’s Crisis Centre for their dedication to making a difference and look forward to seeing this new refuge provide hope and safety to those in need.
