The Northern Co-operative Meat Company Limited, a cattle producer-owned Co-operative founded in 1933, officially transitioned to become Casino Food Company Limited, an unlisted public company effective 12 May 2025. This significant organisational restructuring aims to provide the business with easier access to capital for future growth, while safeguarding its prominent position in the Australian red meat industry.
This transformation positions Casino Food Company Limited to embrace new opportunities, long-term innovation, and achieve ongoing growth in a competitive red meat industry. With this conversion, Casino Food Company Limited joins a number of other former Co-operatives in the agribusiness industry that have successfully adopted modern corporate structures.
Our team provided end-to-end strategic legal advice and support throughout this complex conversion process, including navigating dual co-operatives and corporations act regulatory pathways, corporate governance structuring, obtaining expert reports and satisfying regulatory and shareholder approvals. This involved assisting the organisation in facilitating a smooth transition for shareholders to the new company structure.
