Molly Kemp

Molly is a solicitor in the Litigation group based in Brisbane. She has experience in large scale and complex disputes heard in several Australian jurisdictions. Molly has a general commercial practice which extends to acting in class actions, corporate shareholder proceedings and general contract and negligence disputes.

Molly also has experience advising companies in relation to their statutory employment obligations.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Molly worked in the Litigation and Regulatory team at DLA Piper.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS
  • Defending ASX listed company in a novel class action proceeding brought in the Federal Court of Australia for misleading and deceptive conduct relating to wage underpayment
  • Bringing proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia for a Queensland prawn farm against the Commonwealth of Australia for breach of a duty of warn and negligence for an exotic disease brought into Queensland which resulted in losses of up to $80 million
  • Acting for a Korean state owned gas corporation in Queensland Supreme Court proceedings brought against a joint venture in relation to gas and water infrastructure ownership and accessibility rights
  • Advising international and national companies on their employment and company obligations in response to whistleblower complaints
  • Bringing proceedings on behalf of energy supermajor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in relation to an indemnity applicable to market levy for decommissioning costs
  • Defending commercial construction company in a $10 million negligence claim in the Supreme Court of New South Wales
