Janice is a lawyer with specialist expertise in intellectual property, technology, and commercial law. After a few years in private practice, she spent a number of years as inhouse counsel, assisting on various cross-border transactions and enterprise deals. This combination of private practice and inhouse experience has given her the insight that enables her to deliver pragmatic, solutions-driven advice that is tailored to the client’s commercial objectives.

She advises on intellectual property licensing and distribution arrangements, procurement contracts including master service agreements and IT contracts, privacy policies and data breach response plans, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe. Janice has experience managing global trade mark portfolios and advising on trade mark protection and enforcement strategies. She has also acted on behalf of clients in intellectual property disputes in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court relating to all areas of intellectual property.

Janice enjoys assisting clients to achieve the best commercial outcome, which she does with a practical, yet calm and friendly approach. Her adaptable nature makes Janice a great asset to Hamilton Locke.

Before joining Hamilton Locke, Janice worked as inhouse counsel at Vocus (a leading specialist fibre and network solutions provider) and Althea (an ASX-listed producer, supplier and exporter of pharmaceutical grade medicinal cannabis), and prior to that worked in private practice with a specialist IP firm.
