Hamilton Locke strengthens regulatory services offering with two new partners in Melbourne and Sydney

Hamilton Locke has recruited regulatory and disputes specialists Alistair Newton and Tim Grave to our partnership as we look to expand our capabilities nationally in response to growing client demand for these services.

A competition and consumer law specialist, Alistair has over 15 years’ transactional, advisory and litigation experience in Australia and the UK, with a client base spanning sectors including digital and media, FMCG, health and manufacturing.  Alistair most recently practised at Corrs, where he spent over nine years (including two as a partner), and prior to that, three years at Slaughter and May in the UK.

Tim joins us after more than a decade as a partner at international firm Clifford Chance, where he co-led the Australian Regulatory Investigations and Financial Crime team. Tim specialises in large-scale complex disputes and contentious regulatory and corporate investigations, with particular experience acting for clients (both large corporates and C-suite individuals) in the financial services sector. Tim is a former partner of Chang, Pistilli & Simmons, and practised at Herbert Smith Freehills for several years.

Nick Humphrey, Managing Partner of Hamilton Locke, said: “With increasing client demand for both front and back end regulatory and disputes advice and services, Alistair’s and Tim’s experience is a good fit for us. They will support our further expansion of our services in this area as we look to grow our team nationally.”

Alistair Newton, Partner at Hamilton Locke, said: “Hamilton Locke has a clear plan for where it wants to be in the market and growing its regulatory practice is key to that. I’m excited to bring my experience in competition and consumer law to this multi-disciplinary and forward-thinking team.”

Tim Grave, Partner at Hamilton Locke, said: “Hamilton Locke’s reputation as a challenger firm that aims to ‘do law differently’ really appealed to me. I’m looking forward to working with a dynamic and collaborative team in helping our clients navigate their regulatory challenges.”
