Ashley brings his broad legal expertise, commercial acumen and pragmatism to each matter and is focussed on achieving optimal commercial outcomes for his clients, many of whom are long standing clients. With a career spanning over 3 decades, Ashley has earned a reputation for his meticulous approach to understanding his clients commercial objectives and implementing plans to realise those goals in a cost effective manner.

Specialising in mergers and acquisitions – both private treaty and publicly listed companies, equity capital markets transactions including capital raisings and IPOs, structuring and securities regulation – Ashley offers a wealth of expertise to both domestic and international clients. Ashley also assists his range of domestic and international clients with their corporate requirements, including directors’ duties, solvency advice, regulatory issues, shareholder arrangements and governance matters.

His industry experience extends across financial services, retail, agribusiness, and mining and resources, where he has successfully represented clients before key regulatory bodies including the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke in May 2024, Ashley held senior partner positions at PwC Australia, Baker McKenzie, and King & Wood Mallesons including head of corporate at both Baker McKenzie and PwC Australia.
