Andrea has over three decades of experience specialising in M&A and telecommunications, in Australia and internationally, working in top-tier law firms and in-house legal positions. As a highly experienced Corporate Partner, Andrea’s sophisticated understanding of the intricacies of private M&A, joint ventures, telecommunications and government and industry regulation makes her an irreplaceable asset to her clientele.

Her deep experience with major Australian carriers, the Department of Communications, and smaller telco service providers are complemented by her strong M&A practice that leverages her extensive knowledge in numerous industries including technology, media, and telecom (TMT), retail and insurance. Beyond the domain of telecommunications, Andrea’s proficiency extends into advising on media regulation, information technology, consumer issues and privacy matters. Her adaptability and vigour in addressing legal complexities have solidified her reputation as a consultant delivering not only legal solutions but also strategic competitive advantages.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Andrea worked at Baker McKenzie, Corrs Chambers Westgarth and King & Wood Mallesons.

  • Acted for 7-Eleven International LLC in its A$1.71B acquisition of 7-Eleven Australia.
  • Acted for Macquarie Infrastructure in relation to Axicom’s competitive bid to acquire a majority interest in Singtel’s Australian Tower Network (ATN) and its A$1.9B mobile towers portfolio.
  • Assisted Macquarie Infrastructure in the sale of its mobile towers company, Axicom, to ATN (owned by AustralianSuper and Singtel) for A$3.5B.
  • Acted for OMERS in its acquisition of TPG Telecom Limited’s towers and rooftop portfolio, consisting of over 1,230 sites for an enterprise value of A$950M.
  • Acted for the Daily Mail Group in relation to the formation and subsequent termination of DailyMail.com Australia, a joint venture between the Daily Mail Group, Noine Entertainment and Mi9.
  • Acted for Yahoo! on the Australian aspects of Verizon’s acquisition of Yahoo!, including termination of the Yahoo!7 joint venture (between Seven Network and Yahoo!)
  • Acted for Willis Tower Watson in its acquisition of Risk Capital Advisers (warranties & indemnity insurance business)
  • Advised the Department of Communications regarding the $11B Telstra/NBN Definitive Agreements and the universal service and NBN-related agreements between the Department and Telstra.
  • Advising various carriers and service providers on regional broadband scheme, functional separation requirements and carrier levies.
  • Drafting and negotiating standard and customized wholesale and regulated arrangements, and facilities access agreements, for Telstra, nbn, VHA, Woolworths, eneHub, Amplitel and other clients, including advising regarding regulatory and policy issues.
  • Advising the TIO regarding specific land access disputes and the scope of the TIO’s jurisdiction.
  • Advising Amplitel, Waveconn, Telstra, VHA and nbn regarding facilities access and land access (including Schedule 3) issues, including access arrangements with State utilities.
