Camm Agricultural Group –
Growing for tomorrow
Ever wondered what the future of Australian agriculture looks like? Chances are it looks a lot like Camm Agricultural Group.

Founded in 1972 by David and Judith Camm, this family-built business has grown from a single vision into one of Australia’s most dynamic, innovative, and community-minded beef enterprises. Today, Camm Agricultural Group (CAG) spans more than 450,000 hectares, turns off 90,000 head of cattle each year, and generates $300 million in annual turnover across cropping, cattle production and feedlotting.

But the numbers only tell half the story.

The magic of CAG is that it’s always been a business about tomorrow.

A business built on evolution, not fads

What makes CAG stand out? Their absolute commitment to innovation that actually makes sense. As CEO, Bryce Camm puts it:

“We don’t chase every new trend or every new opportunity, but it’s vital for the continued evolution of our business to be open to new ideas, adopt innovation that economically makes sense and continue to hunt for efficiencies.”

That philosophy has shaped the business from day one – especially at Wonga Plains Feedlot, a site with a legendary backstory. Started by Bryce’s parents in the early 1970s with four pens on the side of a hill, it has evolved into a 25,000-head operation and one of the longest continually running feedlots in the country.

And it’s still growing.

“The expansion at Wonga was really driven by our supply chain partners and global demand for high-quality Australian beef,” says Bryce.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built and excited for what’s ahead.”

Sustainable growth, smart acquisitions

CAG isn’t just innovating – they’re expanding in a way that strengthens their long-term sustainability.

Most recently, Hamilton Locke’s real estate team, led by Emile McPhee, supported CAG on a transformative acquisition: ‘Myra’, a 14,574-hectare, water-rich, strategically located property in Central Queensland.

With creek frontages, dams, and an ideal rainfall region, Myra adjoins two other holdings in the group making this a backgrounding powerhouse for a business built around resilience and futureproofing.

“Landing this deal is a significant milestone for the group and its ongoing evolution,” says Emile.

Family, community, and a whole lot of heart

Yes, CAG is one of the major players in Australian agriculture but at its core, it’s still a family business with a big community heart. Hamilton Locke’s Fran Becker sums it up perfectly:

“Camm Agricultural Group are incredibly forward-thinking. Underlying everything in what they do is not only family, but community. Bryce, Josie and Ainsley all give back in a big way – through boards, committees, and hands-on involvement. Innovation isn’t just in their business; it’s in how they show up for others.”

For the Camms, giving back isn’t a program – it’s a philosophy.

They support everything from local camp drafts to junior football teams and race days. They encourage their staff to volunteer. They champion grassroots leadership as much as industry-wide policy reform.

“We get the best outcomes when we give back to the communities and industries we are invested in,” Bryce says. “It’s something Mum and Dad instilled in all of us.”

Championing the next generation

One of Bryce’s passions, and one of CAG’s defining values, is creating pathways for young people to thrive in agriculture, including those who didn’t grow up on the land.

“Some of our most successful team members came to us from outside agriculture. Growing the human capital of this sector is incredibly exciting.”

From workforce entry pathways to industry leadership, Bryce has long advocated for policies and opportunities that strengthen the agricultural sector’s future.

Why CAG are true future makers

Camm Agricultural Group are the kind of business Australia needs more of – bold, innovative, values-driven and unashamedly committed to building something better for the next generation.

Their story is one of steady evolution, smart growth, and deep roots in the communities they serve.

They’re proof that the future of agriculture isn’t just about technology – it’s about people, vision and heart and we’re proud to partner with them on that journey.
