1 May 2025 – Sydney, Australia
Today marks an important milestone in the leadership and growth of our firm, with Brit Ibanez officially stepping into the role of Deputy Managing Partner. Brit will work closely with our Managing Partner Nick Humphrey to support the next stage of growth of Hamilton Locke and HPX Group.
Brit has made an exceptional contribution to Hamilton Locke since coming on board as a partner in 2019 to launch our Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. As Head of Litigation, Brit’s leadership and strategic vision has created a thriving and successful multimillion dollar practice, with a team of loyal and dedicated lawyers nationally.
Brit’s reputation as a proven leader, her commitment to people as the foundation of our business success, and her initiative in leading change to improve our work environment, has seen her entrusted with several key leadership roles. Brit is a member of the Hamilton Locke Executive Committee, leads our Operational and Risk Committees, and was appointed in July 2024 to co-head our Sydney office. In this latter role, Brit has helped to drive initiatives aimed at enhancing the way our people work and experience our environment, with a focus on connection and collaboration.
Brit is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion and was instrumental in our introducing our Domestic and Family Violence Policy as well as in establishing Hamilton Locke as the first NSW member of Pride in Law, Australia’s national LGBTIQA+Law Association.
In 2024, Brit was named in Australasian Lawyer’s Elite Women list as one of the leading female lawyers in Australia who have made a profound and meaningful impact by shaping the nation’s legal landscape as well as championing change in their respective fields.
Hamilton Locke Managing Partner Nick Humphrey said “Brit was the ideal choice for this important leadership role. “Brit is a true ambassador for our firm. She is deeply invested in the success of Hamilton Locke and our people, and has been a major contributor to our success to date. With our firm and wider HPX Group at a pivotal point in our growth, I am looking forward to working alongside Brit to continue to enhance our people experience, on our plans for strategic growth, and to ensure we stay true to our original vision to be a business that challenges the status quo.”
Brit said she was proud to take on the Deputy Managing Partner role. “It’s truly a privilege to work with the people I do at Hamilton Locke, and to be entrusted with this leadership role. Our commitment to our people-first culture as setting our firm apart is something I take very seriously, and I will work hard to keep this focus front and centre as we move through our next stage of growth.”
