Zina Edwards

Partner, Head of Finance

Zina’s finance background together with her comprehensive knowledge of insolvency law allows her to structure creative solutions for clients while ensuring they are protected in a downside scenario. Zina takes a hands-on, relationship driven approach to each transaction and works hard to ensure that her clients achieve their desired commercial outcomes.

As an experienced finance and restructuring lawyer, Zina has a particular focus on the growing alternative lending market in Australia. Zina advises numerous onshore and offshore credit funds, asset managers and other non-bank lenders in relation to investments in complex structured finance and hybrid transactions, secondary trades, restructuring and special situations. Throughout her career Zina has advised major trading and investment banks, syndicates, funds and public companies in relation to various high-profile turnarounds, restructurings and portfolio sale transactions.

Previously, Zina worked in the restructuring, turnaround and insolvency team of Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney. She has also worked in the London and Moscow office of Allen & Overy as part of the banking and the global restructuring group.

  • Acted for MA Growth Ventures on a asset backed mezzanine facility provided to green mobility business Splend.
  • Acted for iPartners as mezzanine financier for various warehouse transactions including Payright, Ottley and Marketlend.
  • Acted for Grow Finance on its $35 million structured holdco investment by Nomura and a subsequent trade and invoice finance warehouse funded by Nomura and TA.
  • Acted forCars24 on its $100 million structured, asset backed facility from IFM Investors.
  • Acted for OneVentures and Viola Credit in relation to the senior secured holdco facility provided to Harmoney.
  • Acted for Global Credit Investments in relation to a $60 million structured facility to OpenPay.
