Maxwell is a Finance lawyer based in Perth with extensive on the ground experience in Southeast Asia within the Finance sector. Previously based in both Myanmar and Cambodia, he has advised on domestic and cross-border transactions spanning across Myanmar, Cambodia, and Bangladesh. He has also had experience working in Papua New Guinea with international law firm, Dentons.
He previously worked as the local Myanmar counsel to the International Finance Corporation for restructuring their investments into the country’s retail and industrial industries. He was also the go-to counsel for Ayeyarwady Bank in servicing their lending needs to microfinance clients throughout Myanmar, such as drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of facility agreements.
In addition to his experience, he enjoys teaching and has held seminars in Myanmar for local corporate lawyers on international standards in commercial agreements such as share purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, and boilerplate clauses.
Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Maxwell worked at VDB Loi in their Banking & Finance team within Southeast Asia. Maxwell also has worked at HWL Ebsworth in the firm’s Sydney office within the Mergers & Acquisitions team.
