Lucy is a lawyer in the Workplace and Employment team and has experience in both litigated and advisory matters. Lucy believes in the importance of a client-centric and personable approach whilst achieving excellent legal outcomes.

Lucy understands the importance of robust workplace systems and enjoys providing support to clients with this goal in mind. She has worked with several national and international clients in sectors including logistics, warehousing, construction, transport, mining, health care and education.

Her experience includes criminal prosecutions, conducting privileged investigations into serious workplace incidents, advising on duties and obligations under legislation, reviewing risk management frameworks, conducting policy reviews and advising on employment matters. She has experience appearing in Courts in several Australian States and Territories and working closely with Counsel.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Lucy worked at Clyde & Co in Michael Tooma and Kiri Jervis’ Workplace and Employment team.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS
  • Acted in a defended prosecution for a breach of the primary duty of care under the WHS Act in which the charges were withdrawn three days into the trial
  • Acted in a defended prosecution for an alleged individual’s breach of their duties as an officer under the WHS Act in which the charges were withdrawn prior to the trial
  • Acted in guilty pleas for company breaches of WHS duties of care, including preparing court documents to mitigate the culpability of clients and appearing at relevant hearings
  • Drafted a successful enforceable undertaking in lieu of prosecution in which a warehousing and logistics company committed approximately $700,000 to strategies that would achieve better safety outcomes in the industry
  • Advising an international forklift manufacturer on product safety requirements
