John has only recently embarked on his career in the legal profession, following 15 years as a musician. Practice as a lawyer satisfies John’s abiding interests in the craft of the written word, technology and problem solving. He has leveraged these interests and a creative mindset cultivated in his background in music to provide his clients with detailed, thoughtful and tailored legal advice.
John specialises in the practice area of construction and infrastructure, with broad experience in both transactions and disputes. He has worked with contract forms including AS 4902, ABIC and the DEQMS contract suite, and on matters in key jurisdictions such as the Building and Construction List of the Supreme Court of NSW, NCAT and the Federal Court.
Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, John worked for Sparke Helmore.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS:
- Advised the Commonwealth on multiple Defence infrastructure procurements.
- Advised a prominent Sydney developer in respect of its undertaking under the RAB Act.
- Advised RSL LifeCare regarding amendments and additions to its suite of construction contracts, including in respect of the DBP Act and the RAB Act.
- Acted for several Sydney councils in both transactional and contentious matters.
- Acted for both builders and owners in NCAT residential building disputes.
- Advised UGL Unipart JV regarding the Tangara technology upgrade.
