Guy brings over 30 years of expertise in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions and relies on his incisive and calm approach to providing innovative solutions to complex problems. He has worked on numerous notable transactions throughout his career and provides dependable, practical counsel aligned with each client’s core business objectives.

Specializing in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions, Guy has extensive international experience and also has a particular focus in the fintech industry. His main areas of expertise include ASX listings, capital raisings, cross-border listings, public company takeovers and mergers, private company acquisitions, buy-backs and reconstructions, and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Guy was a partner at Baker McKenzie in Sydney for over 20 years, where he was co-head of the Capital Markets group in Australia for a number of years. Previously he was a solicitor with King & Wood Mallesons in Perth.

  • Represented Cettire Limited, a leading Australian ecommerce company, on its IPO and ASX listing.
  • Represented Afterpay Limited in a number of secondary equity capital raisings (institutional placements, retail share purchase plans, and strategic investors) totaling around $2 billion over a two-year period.
  • Represented Mantra Group on its $1.2 billion acquisition by AccorHotels by way of scheme of arrangement.
  • Represented Afterpay Limited on its IPO and ASX listing, and then on its innovative merger with Touchcorp Limited by way of two parallel schemes of arrangement under Australian and Bermudian law.
  • Represented Sundance Energy Australia on its redomiciliation from ASX to the US and Nasdaq listing.
  • Represented Achiko AG, a Swiss biotech company, on its listing on SIX Swiss Exchange and capital raisings.
