Amber advises clients on a broad range of regulatory, transactional and commercial matters, with a particular focus on financial services regulation. She combines technical expertise with a strong commercial focus, delivering clear advice to help clients navigate complex and evolving regulatory environments. She works closely with clients to develop practical solutions aligned with their business objectives.

Amber’s experience spans financial services licensing, AML/CTF compliance, governance and disclosure obligations, and breach reporting, as well as supporting strategic transactions and business transformation projects. She has acted for a range of clients, including trustees, responsible entities, custodians, investment managers and insurance businesses.

Amber brings experience across both private practice and in-house environments. She is recognised for her ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance and for building strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Amber worked at a specialist financial services and funds firm. She has also gained in-house experience as Legal Counsel at Marsh.

SELECTED REPRESENTATIONS
  • Advised a diversified carbon asset and investment manager on its regulatory and compliance obligations, including financial services and AML/CTF requirements.
  • Assisted in advising on a major restructure and simplification project for an ASX 200 wealth management company, involving the consolidation of multiple responsible entities and the transition of trustee arrangements across approximately 150 managed investment schemes.
  • Assisted in advising fintech providers on cross border market entry into Australia and relevant licensing obligations, including preparation of AFSL applications and advising on strategy and authorisation scope.
  • Advised the trustee of a real estate investment trust on the implications of changing its investment mandate and the proposed strategy.
  • Assisted in the post-acquisition integration of Honan Insurance with Marsh, including the review and updating of insurance broking agreements and other contractual documentation.
  • Acted for Marsh on financial services regulation, insurance distribution, procurement and contracting arrangements.
